The objectives of the “Friends Group”, set upon a formal basis in 1998, is to raise funds to help maintain the high standards of the West Lothian Schools Brass Band.
Parents of all existing players are ‘De Facto’ members of the Group.
Any persons interested in the Bands’ continuing success are welcome to join the group.
Meetings are normally held in St. Margaret’s Academy, Livingston on the first Tuesday of the month (19:00hrs to 21:00hrs) when the band is rehearsing.
Although the word “school” appears in the Band’s title, it is to a large extent a community band. West Lothian Council funds the majority of the costs involved in running the Band, but the “Friends Group” also contributes quite a lot towards the Band. We normally pay for the buses to places like Manchester; we provide the uniforms, and just recently we contributed a large sum towards the cost of the “West Lothian”, a signature march which will feature on the new CD which the band has just released.
The Group appreciates that people have many calls on their time and money, but many hands make light work!
